Started watching "Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki" or "Jaku-kyara Tomozaki-kun" the other day. From the get-go, it felt a lot like Oregairu, the main character has the same posture as Hikigaya but worse-looking, like a reject character design. The character designs are all a downgrade from the light novel, it really looks good. A pic from the light novel illustrator. 

   

Maybe I'd let Hinami Aoi talk shit to me if she looked like that... getting ahead of myself. These were my thoughts after watching the first two episodes.

Quote:Reminds me of "My Youth Romantic is Wrong, as I Expected." in premise, setting, and some of the characters. Having watched one episode, I got the feeling that the main girl, Hinami Aoi, wants the guy as her boyfriend. The end of the second episode seems to be moving along that path. Let's see how it goes. The environment looks good, particularly, when Minami and the guy were standing to cross the street in the second episode.

Hi, this is a smaller update than last week's one. If you haven't read the update notes of that one, check out MGW Ranks 2nd Anniversary Update 

The biggest changes or additions come in the inclusion of new releases from CD Japan and Neowing for the international and Japanese regions respectively. They were intended for v0.14.0, but I will admit there was an oversight which saw them omitted.   Next, we've opened a feedback forum here so that users may easily submit their feature suggestions and report bugs. For smaller screens, our greeter image isn't shown but is still downloaded. Now the greeter is only downloaded when the screen or browser window is of sufficient size. The image has also been converted to WebP to reduce bandwidth when shown. Finally, we updated the product image loading code to try a fallback instead of just giving up and showing placeholder one.

This update commemorates the website’s 2nd anniversary. As always, it’s late, but it’s not the date itself, but rather the honoring of the anniversary, right? Right!? This update has the most retailer additions since the initial version. They were always planned additions, but I don’t think I envisioned that they would all be added in a single update. Good Smile Company’s integration required an update. I prefer the old website’s personality, but the new one isn’t bad, neither does it load slowly like other redesigns. GSC’s exclusives have been enhanced over the prior iteration. I’m excited about truly exclusive figures showing up waiting to impress me versus just bonuses. HOBBY STOCK has a few exclusive figures and bonuses as well. So if you hop over to the Japanese section, you might find something nice.

Aside from adding new retailers, we’re always tweaking the site for performance and to make it aesthetically pleasing. This update marks a change in fonts, MGW Ranks is now using the blocky and also sleek “Oxanium” font. The navigation menu font is bold and in full caps, but the menu doesn’t feel overpowering. When used for the price and discount indicators, the font remains legible at a smaller size. It’s actually being used for another MGW project, so we brought it here to unify the designs. The icons have also changed in a way that they are no longer bundled with the HTML on each request. This is a performance change, hopefully you will be able to start scrolling and swiping faster.

Finally, not really, there’s still more. Our greeter, Kurumi, is stepping aside for Sonia Blanche by VERTEX. Much like VERTEX’s prior Sakuya, Sonia is an astounding swimsuit figure with an innocent expression and more importantly, faithfully captures Tony’s artistic style (with the correct appendages). Look at those eyes and smile! Another reason why Sonia was chosen is because of summer. Summer is on its way for the boys and girls in the North, but for us in the Southern Hemisphere, winter is coming. A wise man once said that pretty girls in swimsuits can bring summer with them. Sonia has that responsibility now!

Aniplex has shared the unpainted protypes of their 1/7th scale Nishikigi Chisato Wedding Dress Ver. and Inoue Takina Wedding Dress Ver. from the Lycoris Recoil anime. Their respective prices and release dates are to be announced.

Wishing happy birthday to one of Oregairu's best girls, Yukino!


In 2015, Kotobukiya released her first regular scale figure and, in my opinion, the standard-bearer. What's more important is that she was released when there was no real representation of her in figure form. Before then, a solitary SEGA Prize figure and 1/10th scale BEACH QUEEN version were all that existed. That said, both are pleasant in their own ways!

Kotobukiya's Yukino was so sought after, that for a long time, she was listed on the aftermarket for over ¥30,000 having been released for ¥9,200! Eventually, Kotobukiya realized her appeal and released her twice afterward. For those who like Yuigahama Yui, you could pose the tow of them together on the same base.




As of writing, the latest figure of Yukino is by Good Smile Company and based on the light novel's sixth volume cover by Ponkan⑧. From her paintwork and sway of her hair and nonchalant expression, she's amazing in so many ways.




So one more time, Happy Birthday Yukinon!
